Getting a brand reaching out to you feels exciting.
And it should.
Because it means your content is working.
However, this is also where a lot of creators lose money.
Because when a brand comes to you first…
👉 You actually have leverage
And most creators don’t use it.
Don’t respond immediately
First, pause.
Take a few hours.
Read their message carefully.
Then look up the brand:
- check their TikTok
- review their products
- understand how they position themselves
Go into the conversation informed.
Not just excited.
Ask these questions first
Before you agree to anything, get clarity.
What are they asking for?
- number of videos
- format
- length
- posting dates
What are they offering?
- product only
- flat fee
- commission
- combination
Do they want usage rights?
If they want to use your content in ads…
👉 That costs extra
Is there exclusivity?
If you can’t work with other brands…
👉 That costs extra too
How to check if the offer is fair
Open TikTok on your phone.
Tap:
Profile → Menu → Creator Tools → Analytics
On the Overview tab:
- set to Last 28 Days
- find your average views
Then:
- divide by 1,000
- multiply by $1 to $3
👉 That’s your baseline rate per video.
Now compare:
If they’re offering product only…
And it’s worth less than your rate…
👉 The math doesn’t work
What to say when you respond
Keep it simple and professional:
“Thanks so much for reaching out. I love what you’re doing with .
I’d love to explore a collaboration.
Could you share more details about what you’re looking for and what the budget looks like?
I can send over my media kit as well.”
This works because:
- it stays warm
- it asks for clarity
- it signals professionalism
Without giving anything away.
Your one action from this post
Open your TikTok Analytics right now.
Find your average views.
Then calculate your rate.
Those two numbers…
👉 drive every brand deal you’ll ever have
