I hear this constantly from creators.
TikTok is too negative.
The fragrance community is toxic.
Nobody supports each other.
Everyone is copying everyone.
I get it.
I’ve been there.
But here’s what I had to figure out the hard way.
The problem usually isn’t TikTok.
And more importantly, it isn’t the fragrance community as a whole.
Instead, the problem is the specific pocket of TikTok you’re in.
What’s actually happening
TikTok is not one community.
In reality, it’s thousands of micro-communities sitting inside the same app.
The fragrance corner you’re seeing right now?
It’s just one small slice of what actually exists.
Meanwhile, there are creators in this space with:
- hundreds of thousands of followers
- some with millions
- building real businesses
- working with strong brands
- growing every single day
However, you probably haven’t seen most of them.
Not because they don’t exist.
👉 Because TikTok hasn’t shown them to you yet.
Your algorithm is a reflection of your past behavior.
So if you’ve been engaging with:
- drama
- negativity
- low-quality content
That’s exactly what TikTok will keep serving you.
It’s not a punishment.
It’s just math.
How to find the right community
First, start by resetting your inputs.
Go back to the previous post and follow the 7-day reset plan.
Next, do this:
When you find ONE good creator…
👉 Go to their profile
👉 Open their comments
👉 Look at who they interact with
👉 Then follow those people
That’s how you find the real network.
Not by scrolling.
Instead, by intentionally building your feed.
Why this matters for your content
The community you’re in shapes your content.
Whether you realize it or not.
For example:
When you’re surrounded by negativity → your content becomes reactive
When you’re surrounded by drama → your content becomes distracted
When you’re surrounded by low effort → your quality drops
On the other hand, when you find the right community…
Everything shifts.
You get inspired.
You see what’s possible.
You start building instead of reacting.
And that’s where real growth starts.
Your one action from this post
Open TikTok.
Search:
“fragrance recommendation”
Then:
- Watch 5 videos all the way through
- Follow 2 creators you’ve never seen before
That’s it.
Next up:
how many videos you should actually be posting per day
